چکیده
We give a systematic definition of the fundamental groups of gropes, which we call grope groups. We show that there exists a nontrivial homomorphism from the minimal grope group M to another grope group G only if G is the free product of M with another grope group.

Maps from the Minimal Grope to an Arbitrary Grope
We give a systematic definition of the fundamental groups of gropes, which we call grope groups. We show that there exists a nontrivial homomorphism from the minimal grope group M to another grope group G only if G is the free product of M with another grope group.

We construct a minimal topological action Φ̃ of a non-amenable group on a Cantor set C, which is non-uniquely ergodic and furthermore there exist ergodic invariant measures μ1 and μ2 such that (Φ̃, C, μ1) and (Φ̃, C, μ2) are not orbit equivalent measurable equivalence relations. Let K be a field, and let R = K[X] be the polynomial ring in an infinite collection X of indeterminates over K. Let S X be the symmetric group of X. The group S X acts naturally on R, and this in turn gives R the structure of a left module over the (left) group ring R[S X ]. A recent theorem of Aschenbrenner and Hillar states that the module R is Noetherian. We prove that submodules of R can ha...
متن کاملGrope Cobordism of Classical Knots
Motivated by the lower central series of a group, we define the notion of a grope cobordism between two knots in a 3-manifold. Just like an iterated group commutator, each grope cobordism has a type that can be described by a rooted unitrivalent tree. By filtering these trees in different ways, we show how the Goussarov-Habiro approach to finite type invariants of knots is closely related to ou...
متن کامل6 A ug 2 00 5 HOMOLOGICAL TRANSCENDENCE DEGREE
Let D be a division algebra over a base field k. The homological transcendence degree of D, denoted by HtrD, is defined to be the injective dimension of the algebra D⊗k D ◦. We show that Htr has several useful properties which the classical transcendence degree has. We extend some results of Resco, Rosenberg, Schofield and Stafford, and compute Htr for several classes of division algebras. The ...
